We build the companies at the frontier of health.
ATG — the DNA “start” codon that signals the cell to begin building a protein. The start to life.
ATG is a venture studio investing at pre-seed — founding and scaling a small portfolio of non-competing companies across pharmacogenomics, CRISPR, and nanomedicine, guided hands-on by a founder-operator with a $100M+ track record. Not a passive check. An operator in the room.
The science is ready. The companies aren't built yet.
Frontier health-tech is at an inflection point — the tools, talent, and capital to turn breakthrough biology into deployed products have only just converged. ATG exists to build the companies that close that gap: founding and operating three to five non-competing ventures in adjacent fields, then guiding each from raw potential to a fundable company.
Market sizes to 2030 — MarketsandMarkets, Grand View Research, Research and Markets, Business Research Insights (2025). Broad-category sizing.
Back the egg, not the bird.
A check funds proof. A studio funds potential — then stays in the room to create it. Three ideas make the model work.
Back the egg, not the bird
We fund potential before the proof exists. Small checks against company-scale upside — the asymmetry you only find at the idea stage, and only if you have the conviction to act early.
Non-competing, so they share
A few teams in one studio — same field, deliberately never rivals. Because they don't compete, they share openly: talent, breakthroughs, momentum. Each one makes the others better.
One basket, watched closely
A proven founder-operator actively guiding every company from idea to fundable. Concentrated attention and shared infrastructure — not a spray of passive bets.
Adjacent fields. Non-competing companies.
Diversified across three of the highest-potential areas in health-tech — close enough to share a brain, distinct enough that no two companies ever compete.
Pharmacogenomics
Matching patients to the right medication through their genetics. The revenue-proven engine of the portfolio, with a repeatable commercial motion.
CRISPR
Next-generation gene-editing platforms, advanced and valued on de-risked science rather than early revenue.
Nanomedicine
Targeted delivery and nanoscale therapeutics — built toward in-vivo proof and a clear, defined regulatory path.
From raw potential to a fundable company.
A repeatable build process, run by an operator who has done it before — concentrating capital and attention where the proof emerges.
Source
Founder-grade ideas at the earliest stage, where conviction beats consensus and entry is cheapest.
Build
Co-found and operate alongside founders, plugging each company into shared talent and infrastructure.
Compound
Non-competing teams accelerate one another through the shared brain — the studio's core advantage.
Back winners
Concentrate further capital and support where milestones are hit and the proof becomes the asset.
Founder, scientist, endurance athlete — and father of two.
Hi, I am Alex Mulyar, based in Los Angeles, California. In the past I bootstrapped three profitable health companies from almost nothing, without outside capital: a naturals brand I started with $6K that grew past $15M in sales, a beauty brand (SRI) that did $11M+, and CRI Genetics, which I built from a $30K start to $100M+ in revenue — roughly $25M a year at its peak — and 100+ employees. I'm Harvard-trained in biology with peer-reviewed research in The American Journal of Medicine, and I ran an IRB-approved pharmacogenomics clinical study at the University of Arizona Sarver Heart Center.
What led me into VC is this: I've taken health companies from a whiteboard to real revenue the hard way — mostly alone — and I'd rather spend the next decade multiplying that by backing and operating alongside a handful of exceptional founders, giving them the early capital and hands-on guidance I wish I'd had. I'm financially independent; I'm doing this because I want to advance human health, not because I need to. That's why I'm launching ATG, a venture studio investing at pre-seed — backing US founders in pharmacogenomics, CRISPR, and nanomedicine.
Outside of work, I'm an Ironman triathlete and ultramarathoner, with multiple Ironman finishes and ultras up to 100K. I haven't yet figured out the right balance between training, running companies, and raising two daughters — but I keep working on it.
Everyone wins on the same outcomes.
Alex invests his own capital alongside every investor.
Founders
Keep meaningful ownership and real, vesting upside. Motivated to build for the long term, not to flip.
The studio
Stays hands-on and invested in every company — compensated through equity and performance, aligned with results rather than fees.
Investors
Get diversified exposure to the entire portfolio through a single vehicle — one decision, the whole studio.
